rape when it's conscentual, but it's a CRIME against the FEMALE when it's prostitution?!

FORCED prostitution?!

AND, those guys in the "Johns Class" laugh their asses off when that guy asks, "When's the break?"

It's NO JOKE.

These CHILDREN have been tricked and brainwashed and exploited and they're incarcerated as CRIMINALS!?!?

And the customers just get A CLASS? They are looking at those little girls like pieces of meat.

And the pimp gets NOTHING as punishment.

It's no better than stoning women in Iran when you're sick of her being your wife.

You've made an excellent point MSStMarie! USA society was founded and cultivated by the puritans (which explains a lot) ergo our acceptance towards violence and our behind closed doors toward sex and nudity. It's okay for the pimps to exercise their violence towards the girls, and yet treating the sex that the girls are forced into as prosecution.

That's a fair point. But, in some cases, that's sort of worse for making one sound like a loony. It makes you imagine some hectoring hippy leaning in with their finger in your face. :)

I do agree about the futility of sending these dumbarses to John school, though. They should just have to have 'frequenter of prostitutes' put on their forehead in permanent ink and let them walk around with that for a couple of weeks.

Agreed. But I'm not a looney.

I'm a woman.

Now 41 years of age.

A 14-year-old girl does one of two things: what she wants to do by willfullness, or what she HAS (pardon the caps) through force and manipulation.

In the case of these girls, I think it may have been a mixture of both, because at that age, especially when you have no love at home, you just want someone to want and adore you.

You'll do ANYTHING for it.

Nothing else matters.

I wasn't a teenaged prostitute, but I totally know how these girls feel.

"John School" is stupid.

Biology is biology.

The secret is to teach girls their own value and worth.

It's a hard lesson.

The only victim in these crimes are these young girls... Yes, I know that caps make you look looney.

If grown women want to sell their bodies, they should be able to, without pimp threats and payments...

Johns shouldn't be criminalized.

It's these little girls who should be protected.

And EVERYONE (pardon the caps) should be protected from disease.

Legalise prostitution.
Make sure all girls are above 18 or the same age as you can join the army.

If a client sleeps with an under age girl he is done for child abuse.
If a client sleeps with a woman forced to being a prostitute he is done for rape.
If a pimp forces a girl to be a prostitute they are done for rape. example if a pimp forces 4 girls to be prostitutes and each girl sleeps with 4 men, each client is done for rape and the pimp is punished for (4x4) 16 rapes.

If the woman is illegal she is not forced back home, this way you can get more people convicted of taking part in the sex trade.

Make the females pimp themselves. 2 or more girls rent/own a house or apartment ,they then hire body guards/drivers for protection.

How is the client supposed to know how old the girl is and whether or not she was forced? I'm sure she doesn't go "Hello John, I'm 15 and being forced to do this against my will." to everyone that walks up or else I'm sure she wouldn't have to worry about getting any customers. I think all parts of this are the problem: the pimps, the prostitues and the people that pay for it. Neither one of those 3 can completely get rid of all the blame. The girls obviously made some crappy decisions to end up where they are, it's not like they woke up one morning and were suddenly hooked to some drug and selling themselves. It was a long road that they went down and they did go down it of their own free will. The pimps are to blame most of all for putting them in that situation. The clients are to blame too, because if there was no demand then there would be no reason for pimps to have prostitutes. But it seems unreasonable to expect one of the clients to know the age and the willingness of the prostitute, it just seems naive to believe that the prostitute would admit to being forced into the trade or that she was underage.

that argument doesn't usually work for child molesters (nor people who sell beer to underage people) so why should it work for johns that are paying for it. It's not unreasonable at all to think they don't know the age of the girls. Maybe not the exact age, but they KNOW they are most likely under 18. Asking and having the girl say "I'm 18" isn't enough.

How about not picking up hookers at the point? Are men that hard up, they can't at least find a willing girl at a bar somewhere? How about not blaming the CHILDREN at all since they are tricked and fooled by these "Daddies" and then drugged and threatened. Children cannot make life choices, they don't have the experience or the mental capacity to realize consequences. They are easily controlled.

The worst is law enforcement tripping over themselves to book the children as criminals. Do we as a society really think 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 year old children are disposable? That they absolutely have nothing to contribute to society? In the long run, it's cheaper and more beneficial for society to figure out how get these people on their feet and become productive citizens.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

When that guy asked "when's the break" I felt like throwing something at the computer. What an F'ing idiot. I hope the DA or whoever was there giving the talk laid into him. Maybe Rachel should go and talk to these guys and let them know how these girls get into the life. Those guys were pricks.

You're right, we Americans need to wake up and start fighting this cancer.

However, few are willing to see all the tentacles of this problem.

So here are some questions - what are the roles of these things in the issue of child prostitution (in no particular order):

1. Porn
2. The breakup of the family and marriage
3. Abortion
4. Homosexuality
5. Public Education
6. The Internet
7. The age of consent
8. Feminism

etc. etc.

This issue is connected to every other major issue of our age and all of history. However, there is a blindness that we Americans seem to have - we cannot bear to see the truth because we can't bear to give up the things we'd have to give up.

I have much to say on this subject, and a lot of it from personal experience.

I will only say that it is an industry that caters to men (who do NOT have to be tested) and women, who make MUCH LESS money than men in ANY part of the private (or public) sector.

Even in the legal segments, the cost and liabilities fall on the women.

It's still completely unfair even when "quote" legal.

Most prostitutes choose to do what they do. Do not blame others. Why cannot people accept that they are responsible for their own acts? These girls are not victims, mostly, but perpetrators.
