Just so you're not left hangin'....(oops)...I always found TG's music unlistenable and GPO a bit too esoteric and experimental for my tastes. I heard that he had surgery to make himself look like his girlfriend, is that true? My verdict would be...interesting, but only in small doses.

thanks for not leaving me hanging

and also i am more fascinated by TG/GPO than "into" it

but yes he did have surgery to combine himself and his dead girlfriend [just having tits?] - s/he refers to it as p-androgyny [positive androgyny]

anyways the topic i was going to raise was that in the soft focus interview [which explains gens surgery - you can watch on youtube] she claimed to be the last person to speak to ian curtis.

her story - s/he said in the interview -goes as follows

that ian curtis rang her up the night he hung himself and sang down the phone "weeping" by TG (a song about suicide). gen having written the song knew he was going to kill himself and tried to contact all the people she knew in manchester as gen was in london i think apparantly everyone was at a party that night so the messages were just left on answerphones around manchester.

however i was interested that either she did not tell this in the JD doc or it wasnt featured. i heard from some people that GPO has been known to lie in interviews but s/he did seem very sincere in the interview when tackling the sore subject of ians death

so i was just wondering what people thought about this and sharing this bit of info

i highly recommend watching the soft focus interview though its fascinating even if ur not rele a GPO fan

this is actually where i first found out about genesis p orridge, throbbing gristle and psychic tv, im just a big ian svenonius fan and dig his interviews

So he wanted to look like his DEAD girlfriend?? Jesus, I didn't know that - that's morbid!

If it was true about him trying to contact everyone you'd think (a) someone would have verified it by now and (b) SOMEONE would have been contactable on the night, maybe even the local police??

I will watch that interview, it's a fascinating topic.

throbbing gristle are highly hit or miss. depends on what noise suits you, actual talent or 4 people tinkering with synths for an hour.

and GPO is a joke.

reply

no, not to be like his dead girlfriend... this was going on before her death.. the "experiment" was for them to both become one person, to blur the lines between each other physically, so that a "third being" came from the both of them.. she suddenly died while they were already well into this process...

reply

Interesting guy, don't like the music apart from Godstar really.
