Except for the ending :S
Either way... toss a few more bucks at this film, spend that $$$ on epic fight scenes and you got yourself a kick ass movie!
Story was cool up until the end...where all the strong female characters die...
anywho, if you got some free time it's worth a watch I'd say

About the end...while what you say is true, it does reflect history (passing of matriarchal order). There is also promise of renewal because the spirit of what has passed is carried by the river, similar to the promised return of the king in the Arthurian legend.
I think the ending is fitting, if disquieting.
The rating on imdb doesn't help. I actually almost didn't see this film thanks to the low rating of 2.8, however I saw it and I enjoyed it. I am glad I did.

The ending was about the only thing that fit the original legend...they absolutely destroyed one of the oldest and best Czech legends in this movie....
