The movie is an original in every way and certainly is not reminiscent of any I have seen. Its almost fairy tale like, it is a no where land. The amazing use of stylized color is akin to only one movie I can think of, THE WIZARD OF OZ. It has the same Technicolor beauty that I can only imagine this classic movie had audiences marveling at over 60 years ago.
The lead performance by Henry Thomas was flawless, any lesser actor could have ruined the whole movie, because this character had to be not only believable but likable and enticing. The switches (due to Henry's perceptions as opposed to reality) were extremely amusing and kind of eye-opening on how we expect others to be based on word of mouth.
The almost comical design of the serial killer was at great contrast with the nauseating semi-reality of the murders, thus making, dare I say it, killing that was fun to watch!
I had a great time.

I just watched the movie over the weekend in Dallas at Fear Fest 2, the movie is great! An awesome mix of gore, horror, comedy and suspense. Definitely check it out when you get the opportunity.
