The future of film!

This is a great movie and hopefully the future of the movie biz. Black leads and a black director at the helm. The result is astonishing and it's making big money. Show biz ain't dead. This is what people want to see.

Do you know in the past there have been a ton of very successful films staring black people, directed and produced by black people?
Tons on success.
Do you think something was holding them back?

I'm white and I love peele. But no interest in any Tyler perry.
It's not the race, it's the content.

reply

For me, for most, it's about race. Just this Monday, at the office, a small group gathered around the coffee machine.
People kept asking "what black films did you see this weekend" One commented "I read the State of Africa by Martin Meredith" Another "I made Muamba de Galinha from Angola"
All white people. The support for blacks are everywhere.

reply

It's about race? Sounds like a great way to keep racism alive and well. You do you.

I prefer to not care about color. Is the MOVIE good or not. Not who made it.

reply

Your being sucked in by a troll.

reply

I do see that

reply

I love his sarcasm though, its top notch.

reply

Damn... you're really brainwashed... Just enjoy the art! And by the way, this movie isn't that good at all, and you are the definition of racist.

reply

op is a troll. ignore

reply

I live in LA and black films are trending right now. People are educating themself on black culture, who they are, what they eat, their values etc. Being black is hip, being negro-is the future.

reply

wait... I thought being TRANS was the future? it changes monthly. is there an email chain or weekly newsletter I can sign up for to keep up with the changes? was there a memo?

reply

Just read this forum brother!

noted. thanks!

I think non-blacks would pay good money to see this first hand. Like you said: how they eat, how they mate, how they fight, etc. There’s an old zoo in my city we could renovate and build faux projects with a two way mirrors instead of windows. Finally we’ll be able to learn more about this interesting species! In a respectful way of course! We’ll pay them a UBI to do nothing but laze around between eating and mating and fighting.

Coney Island actually used to have African warrior exhibits where they flew in a bunch of natives for display. They also had midgets and eskimos and Boer war fighters, I think. Let’s do that again but with the ever elusive African American!

Japanese investors are standing by.

reply

We could just place a huge two way mirror dome over Chicago and respectfully observe. Beer, pot & gun hubs everywhere for that, you know, daily replenishment.

reply

Sounds exciting! I'm thinking of transing to Neo-Negro.

reply

This was a great film about negros! Hopefully this will be the future.

reply

>Hopefully this will be the future.
What!? People being sucked up in the air by flesh-eating sphincters disguised as clouds??

reply

I think he meant that that films directed and starred in by negros are the future. People want and crave black films.

reply

Ah OK. Thanks for the clarification! I've been staring at the ground and been very careful not to look at clouds on my way to work since I read his message... My neck hurts.

reply

People are craving that BBC. Big black cinematography.

reply

The medium of the future!

reply

Big Black Cinematography in Tight White Frames

reply

one side says we should seek out, learn about, love, and respect black culture to not be racist.

the other side says we should ignore black culture to not be racist.

reply

what about just enjoying whatever you enjoy and not worrying about color? that's what I do and it works all the time

reply

it's not so easy. the human brain immediately picks up on color, which is why our undeveloped forefathers hated anyone who liked different from them. it's up to us as an evolved species to understand how others think, how we think ourselves, and how the world works, to make sure everyone lives peacefully.

reply

sounds like a ton of extra overthink and work. I'll just keep respecting everyone [until they do me wrong] and not worry over racism. All I can do is me, and set an example outside of me to others.

reply

“I'll just keep respecting everyone [until they do me wrong]”

What like in that post about Pride month where you said, quite of your own volition and unprovoked “soldier on butt-fuckers”? Is that your idea of respecting everyone you snivelling little disingenuous worm of a hypocrite?

reply

We’re you as a buttfucker offended? I wasn’t. You sound like you failed Anger Mgmt. If your only tool is a hammer…

reply

Don’t be fooled by mistaking EXTREMES for SIDES.

reply

So you are hyper focused on the race of the participants. That helps make it good or bad in your eyes.

Ok

reply

Hard to differentiate between the trolls and the ones oblivious to the trolls. Best thread ever.

reply

I think this whole discussion is a troll.

reply

Nope isn't even the future of Jordan Peele.

Of his three features this one's done the worst. Tons spent on advertising long before it reached theaters but it quickly vanished after a tepid Box Office beginning. You might read of how it "made the most of R-rated films" and such-not but remember this film gained noticed because it was directed "by the guy who did Get Out."

Meanwhile word-of-mouth got out quickly what a turkey this film was. Get Out's wildly over-rated, Us had THE most ridiculous plot and was poorly executed, but Nope has zilch to offer. Wooden/Annoying performances and NO payoff.

Terrible film. Someone was high if they thought this rubbish is "the future" of anything.
