Chimp attack scene.. not scary at all. Instead it was sad (spoilers)

Not even unsettling. What are you guys taking about? this was just sad.

I felt sorry for the animal. Not what it did, that was awful but it did not know what it was doing. After it attacked one of the female costars (presumably dead) and she lay out on the floor it tried to tap her foot to get her to get up again. It just did not understand the full capacity of the action it just committed, maybe even forgot and perhaps thought she was 'sleeping'. When it attacked and killed the male co star you notice the man tried to wave his arms up at the chimp (perhaps intimidating it) and that seemed to trigger the animal again.

Then the chimp tried to remove it's birthday party hat as though it wanted out of the costume the humans had put it in. Maybe it had enough of being treated like a toy. By the time it reached the Asian boy under the table it appeared to calm down. It wanted to fist bump him and looked confused then it was shot to death.

I'm with you 100% and I'm sorry, I can't be emotionally moved by a CGI massacre. Furthermore you don't really get to see much for me to be even be scared.

This scene's intention was to go for maximum shock value at the expense of of common sense. You mean to tell me that the cast wasn't trained on the do's and don'ts in dealing with a chimp? Also no armed forced at all on a movie set? Forget the fact that there's an animal, you have high presumably high profile actors on set. I've seen arguments stating that all this was because it was based in the 90s. I don't buy it.

I would suspect that any show featuring a wild animal like that wouldn’t be shot in front of a live studio audience.

reply

I know it's CGI but it's happened before (see Travis the chimp). I can not stand wild animals being kept as personal pets or being used to perform in commercials. When things go bad the animal is the one to be punished.

The worst is when abused circus elephants run amok and of course get shot until they fall down. Very sad...

That happened in the town I currently live in about 30 years ago.

It is an animal. Nobody (in the context of the movie) is blaming it for what it did. But if in real life if you are somewhere where a chimpanzee is loose and it gets upset it would definitely be a scary situation.

I know, it was probably the best scene in the movie, although a very sad one. Wild Animals don't realize they can kill their human owners when they get angry and lash out. The Chimp recognized the kid and wanted to be friendly, while covered in blood.

The blood on the chimps face scene was so sad for me to see especially when he approached the boy and seemed confused when the boy pulled back in terror unsure what to do, to fist bump or not. Before the Chimp was shot he looked truly sad and was puzzled to why the boy didn't want to ''be his friend anymore''. Then wham! shot in the head. I don't know but I honestly wanted to cry. I didn't expect to get emotionally affected.
