Since this film flopped...


...the studio might as well have kept the characters African-American, as the original writer, Ken Rance, wrote them. Seems pretty stupid to bring in C. Jay Cox to rewrite the script to erase any markers of African-American culture in order to cast Renee, Harry, et al, only to see the movie bomb. Really don't understand that line of reasoning...

Except that this movie didn't bomb. It made a 100% profit over its investment. An $8,000,000 profit isn't anyone's definition of bombing.

I think films about a time and motion person coming to town and causing havoc pre-dates Spotswood.

Didn't know it was originally featuring African-American characters -- would have made a very interesting premise to a promising movie.
