Like Someone Would Move From Miami To There..

How can anyone feel depressed running on a beautiful beach missing a place where at the same its paradise for you its snowing buckets? I'm from a small Canadian town and lived in Miami and if anything Harry Connick should have moved his daughter to Miami yelling "Lets kick the tires and not have to light anymore fires!"

reply

it's not the place she misses so much as the people.

Minnesota may be cold but the people there are warm. I love it there. The summers are incomparably beautiful. Tropical climates are overrated.

Each place has its on extremes. the north has the cold, But Its a time to revitalize. and heal our skin form summer sun damage.LOL.
Florida has its extremes too. 90 Degrees with 100 percent humidity isn't fun. I doubt she woud jog in a jacket then. And my cousin had to flee from three huracanes. She comes here every july to get away from the southern heat.
and we visit her in janurary to get out of the cold.

Use Things, Not people.

reply

Amen, Ranger! I'd rather have extreme cold than hot. At least you can dress for the cold!! I'll take snow any day over humidity with heat. Yuck!!

reply

I would love it. I bet people would be sick of living in Miami all the time anyway. I think the OP's comment might be a bit narrow-minded. Not everyone wants to sweat all day long in the heat of the sun. New Ulm looks terrific, closed-mindedness of the character aside

I was born and raised (and currently live) in Miami. I hate this god awful city. Crime, traffic, extremely nasty people, don't get me started on the way people drive, bad restaurants (yeah, I said it, unless you like greasy cuban food, good luck to you), and the list really does go on.

Yeah, the beach is awfully pretty. So, visit here and enjoy a week on the beach. But, to live here all the time is horrible and I'd live in a frigid climate over Miami anytime, even if just to be around some real people.

I'm from Corona Del Mar and I happen to love Canada. Especially Winnipeg, and West Hawk Lake. Even during winter when its 60 below zero. I loved it so much as to have moved there for two years so its entirely likely someone would have moved from Miami to a small Canuck village. Rare but likely.

it was her goal to become a CEO. She did so. However if she wanted the love of her life she'd have to move to MN. She got both by doing so...

As long as I had a decent career (good money, don't hate the work), I'd much rather live in a cold ass Northern small town than anywhere in FL. I love cold weather. I like that it gets dark early in the winter. Fall in the midwest is great too.

I grew up in the Midwest. Always been a fan of the fall & winter, hate the summer. It's too hot and WAY too humid. Dry heat isn't as bad, but I'm still not a big fan. Most people you meet love it hot, and complain about the cold all fall & winter. I've never understood why people don't move to areas whose climates they prefer. If it was hot all year round, I'd move in a heartbeat.

i agree with some other posters and wish she would have stayed in miami. although i knew it was inevitable that she would end up back in minnesota. oh well.

Personally, I wouldn't live in Miami (or anywhere it didn't snow) unless you paid me a hell of a lot of money. I was born and raised in Alaska and am currently going to college in the midwest. And I hate it. The weather sucks, it never snows, and it's hot and humid and miserable well into October. Florida? Been there, more times than I can even begin to count (I have relatives there). Again, hot, humid, and miserable. The only time I've been to Florida and it wasn't miserably hot? Last year at Thanksgiving, when the weather was a pleasant 70ish. About how I like my weather. Perfect summer's day.

Paradise is relative. I love Minnesota. I hate Florida. You couldn't pay me enough to live in Florida.

reply

I was raised in South Florida. I lived there for twenty years. I HATE heat. I've also come to a point where I no longer want to live in a big city. I would gladly move to a town like the one depicted in the film.

Small town MN looks a lot more attractive than Miami to me. I'd put up with the cold to avoid the hurricanes and Don Johnson's rolled up sleeves.
