The Monster Hunting Posse

When the villagers formed a posse to hunt the monster down they took weapons from an old Soviet era armory (note the picture of Lenin inside). They armed themselves with shoulder fired weapons like rifles and tommy guns or hand held weapons like pistols.

Now the only shoulder fire weapon likely to be effective against the monster is the world famous RPG the Rocket Propelled Grenade. Its shaped charge is plenty powerful enough to blow the thing to pieces, especially if you fired several at it. I know. I have seen their effectiveness in combat in Vietnam and Cambodia.

So why did they not have any RPGs handy in the armory? This was standard Soviet issue. Alternatively why did someone not go ahead and rig up Molotov cocktails ahead of time or fix bundles of dynamite with short fuzes.

Maybe they could have rigged something up with farm tractors or road building equipment and chains to contain the monster. Instead they go off armed for bear but not for monster.
