i just saw coco avant chanel last night and i was quite disappointed with it. The pace was slow and it focused on her love life, not on her 'beginnings' as the founder of the famous brand today. I thought her life as a rags-to-riches-budding-entrepreneur was what's implied in the title & apparently i was wrong.
I was hoping someone could give me an idea about this one (coco chanel).

I finally watched Coco Avant Chanel, and like you said, the pace was slow. The story of Coco Chanel is different (perhaps more "Hollywood"), but it is not a snooze-fest, and I much prefer Coco Chanel. It is more along the lines of what you were expecting (rags to riches).
Ignore all the comments here regarding Shirley MacLaine. Shirley may have been the big name, but she does not have the starring role in this movie; that goes to Barbora Bobulova.

I see this question was answered long ago...but if anyone else is curious... I've seen both this tv movie Coco Chanel...and the theater film Coco Before Chanel... and I definitely prefer the tv version! :)
