What happened to her sister?

Did I miss that part?

I also wondered about that. They never showed her sister ever again! Weird. Who knows. Maybe it says more about her sister in an autobiography or something.

She actually had 5 siblings. Julia died in 1913 at the age of 31, but I don't know how. No, you didn't miss anything about it in the movie. There was just that one reference to Coco writing her a letter and sending her a hat she made.

I remember the part about the letter and hat.

And the girl that she rips the sleeves of the dress, she called "her niece."

With her mother specifically asking "take care of your sister...." I kept waiting for the sis to appear.

Good question. Chanel also had 3 brothers but they were never mentioned. I'm not sure if they were half brothers.

No mortal could possess it! No kingdom could command it!

She got a telegram at the store in Paris. She went to the convent where her sister was giving birth and in a lot of pain and screaming and evidently died in childbirth. The sister had a son and the idiot nuns wouldn't let a single woman Coco take her sister's son and he was adopted by the couple in the background.

Now, I remember she went back to the convent but her sister stayed on to work there after turning 18 years old. I actually thought the niece was related to her assistant. Now, I wonder if she ever had contact with her nephew? Who would have gotten the money and the franchise.

I don't remmeber the part you mentioned being in the movie.

Since her father started a new family, I would think the brothers were half-brothers.

There's a 3-hour, extended version of the movie that show two short scenes with her sister at the convent. It also adds a short scene when Coco runs into Etienne again, during WWI.

The movie was televised last night and I watched it once before and I didn't recall the scene of her sister dying at childbirth. I actually got confused lol. So it seems there are 2 versions of this movie with added scenes with the focus on coco's sister and her baby.

I thought that would put the pieces in place of the scenes with her niece. But when it was a boy I then thought maybe the niece was Adrienne's daughter.

However near the end, the old man walks in before the runway show and greets a young man named André. This could be him but then again, it's France and there maybe more André's in Coco's life.
But it seems like it wrapped the story back together by featuring a man named André.

Just my two cents :)
