27:00 (Plane!)
Around 27:00 there's a shot of half a plane in the middle of nowhere. Where have I seen this before? I feel like it's been on a famous album cover or something..

shareDoes anyone know the actual story behind this plane? Where did it come from? Why is it still there?
shareThats funny, my first reaction was that it resembled the cover of Suede's "Sci-Fi Lullabies" album

The band A-ha has a similar cover.

The plane has numerous holes and dents as if it were shot down.
shareThis is an old cargo Douglas DC-35 Super Dakota that crash landed on Sólheimasandur which is on the south coast because of fuel exhaustion in bad weather around 1950+...ish. The US Army didn't think it was cost effective to save it so they salvaged what they could and left it there. No one was hurt in the crash. See here http://www.pbase.com/bolli/image/78839693
Incredible posting, thanks for the info!
shareIt is fairly reminiscent of the cover of Suede's B-side collection Sci-Fi Lullabies. That's what it reminded me of anyway.
shareI'm glad I'm not the only one who instantly thought of Sci-Fi Lullabies.
