Arrghhh....WHY FONTAINE?

I loved Atlas, loved his voice, loved his persona, loved his actor, loved everything about him.

Why did they make him into Bronx thuggish Fontaine? Fontaine was easily the least interesting character in the whole game? It was obvious, the two had different actors.

If Atlas turned out to be a traitor, I could have bought it (and actually enjoyed it). But the fact they made him Fontaine...WHY WHY WHY?

Okay, sorry. Rant over. I'm just upset. 

I thought it was brilliant and I love both Atlas and Fontaine.

Have you played Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea?

You must have missed the audio diary where Fontaine is speaking as himself, and then Diane McClintock walks in on him and he changes his voice to Atlas on the fly. One actor for both. Greg Baldwin shouldn't be listed in the credits, his performance was scrapped and he doesn't appear in the game at all. All of the Atlas/Fontaine dialogue in the game is performed by Karl Hanover.

If you really want to know "why" they did it, it was a call back to the plot twist of the team's previous game System Shock 2.

Actually Baldwin was the voice of Fontaine, but he also tried to do Atlas. However, they scrapped his Atlas voice and hired the other actor to do it. Kept his Fontaine voice though.

Thanks for a reply either way. :)

They didn't keep Baldwin at all, they scrapped his entire performance. There's been a lot of misinformation over the years. Apparently Baldwin himself doesn't even realize he was cut from the game, I guess they never bothered to tell him. If you don't believe me, watch the new director commentary videos in the Bioshock Collection.

Though it shouldn't even be necessary if you've heard the audio diary I mentioned where Fontaine switches between voices on the fly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qyeac2sJYyc It's obvious it's the same actor doing both roles.

Everywhere online it says Karl did the voices for both on Bioshock 2, but not one.

Whatever.
