incredible move

Caught this on DVD in Taiwan in jan 08, was blown away by kwai Lunmei's understated acting. Very down to earth and realistic. I sure hope she continues in film. Her performance here, and in Secret, were nothing short of magical. I love how her face fully captures the emotion of whatever she's in at the moment.

as to the movie itself, I loved how it did not have your typical 'they-both-fall-in-love-and-live-happily-ever-after" ending. To see both character so close at the end, and yet the mere span between them might as well been light years.... very powerful. The director keyed the moment brilliantly.

Looking forward to more both from Kwai Lunmei and Lin Jing-jie in the future.

did not know the actress' name before reading your post but knew it must've been her you were talking about and i agree the ending is great poor Lunmei though of the three she's the only one without some sort of closure and the most tragic

Tz-yi Mo is soooo beautiful and acts with so much intensity as the Sound Man, Xiaotang. I really fell in love with him.

I like slow-moving films where one can assimilate the mood of the characters. I find that much more interesting than going through the motions of "plot" from the outside, like a gossip or a voyeur. This film is like that. One is really inside the characters. It is not so much a sweet film as one of deep moods and great beauty. The ending is so beautiful it can't be described.
