English title: why?

As I understand, this film is Dutch spoken (at least the actors are Dutch). So why did the film makers decide to translate the - Dutch - book title ('Bruidsvlucht') to English? It appears that they think it has some additional value, but which? Anyone?

The story plays mainly in New Zealand. The Dutch characters are immigrants. That explains why there's a mix of English and Dutch dialogue.

If it's spoken in Dutch, I think they should've stayed with a dutch title.

That's an awfully big "if" ...did you actually see this movie?
Although the Dutch filmmakers used Dutch actors who spoke some Dutch in the film, Dutch is not the majority language of the movie.

The explanation is that this story is based on the actual first, record breaking flight of KLM to New Zealand, and at that time the international press nicknamed it "Bride flight". So actually the Dutch title of the book is a translation of this, not the other way round.

And plus the film was a reasonable mix of Dutch and English, not just in Dutch. Also, I guess the vast majority of the Dutch population speak English, and that doesn't work the other way round :)
