Book Question *Spoiler*

Apologies if I bore anyone, I am aware the books are different to the movie,(If anyone knows a really good forum let me know). Anyway,I have recently gotten into Sophie Kinsella's books, how did I miss them before? I have no idea! So I have a little question about Confessions of a Shopaholic - The First Book.

Is it explained why Sacha and Luke break up?? I know he was interested in Becky throughout the book, but I never liked how he lead her on even though he had a girlfriend and only makes his move when Sacha leaves him, (I could have read it wrong).

The only tiny thing I don't like about Sophie's books, is the characters seem to get romantically involved shortly after having a break up. Rebound relationships don't always last.

Thoughts?

I just finished the book today. They never say why Sacha leaves him. My bet is giving her luggage as a gift. Or maybe someone saw him with Rebecca and tattled.

They don't say why he and Sacha broke up (but maybe justyourhalf is right about her being unimpressed when he bought her a suitcase as a gift. lol)
I don't feel he led Becky on though: he never implied he was single.

The first half of the book is pretty good and funny: the constant often-ridiculous excuses she makes for her irresponsible behavior (to herself and to the debt-collector), the bad example she got from her mother (explaining why Becky is unable to 'just say no' to new purchases), the enabling flatmate.

But i really disliked the wish-fullfilment ending: finally giving a iota of attention to what other people are saying immidiately leads to a highly succesfull newspaper-article which sprirals into a regular talkshow-spot within days. All because she is hot and semi-knowledgeable about finances. The rich hot-looking guy who (unintentionally) humiliated her before is deeply impressed by her moral fortitude and turns out to be in love with her (allowing her to dump the rich not-hot guy that she was dating for his money)
