That is what I wondered for 100 minutes, I mean she only does something mean to her almost at the end and honestly she called her a trout before that, I do not know if this is explained in the book, but she was actually nice to her when they met, while the main character kept on being shady the whole time. Did she hate her cos she was taller?
shareIf you watch the shopping scene before the talk show when Alicia is given Becky's bag Derek Smeath calls it does not show it in the movie but in the book Alicia is the one who clues in Mr. Smeath into Becky being on the show.
(In the book Alicia is more of a established character and a villian)
In that scene it is at least heavily implied that Alicia is the one responsible. We actually see Alicia answer Rebecca's call from him and pretty much the next scene you see Derek Smeath on the show then after she acts smugly about it.
