Kristin Scott Thomas

So, I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but I wanted to point it out because I thought it was an interesting coincidence (or it might have affected the casting, who knows?).

I'm reading the book at the moment and in Chapter 11 Rebecca is out with Luke Brandon and he complements her, essentially. And she wonders to herself "who am I like, then? Someone really cool like Kristin Scott Thomas, maybe."

Now, sure enough, in the movie, Kristin Scott Thomas plays the editor/founder/whathaveyou of the magazine that Rebecca aspires to work for!

Deeper meaning? Probably not, I just thought it was cool and wanted to share...

I thought the choice of KST was an interesting one for the film, and she was rather underutilised for a very talented actress.
Now it makes a little more sense.

"They who... give up... liberty to obtain... safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

I thought KST shoukd have played the Meryl Streep role in The Devil Wears Prada. KST matches the description of the character in that book to a "t". Miranda (loosely based on Anna Wintour) is supposed to be British, thin, cold, aloof.
