Leo's smelly finger message

I think I would have let the bitch die after I saw that.

reply

Yes, the death penalty for alleged cheating, something guys don't do. Oh, wait...

It showed the anger and mixed emotion on her boyfriend's face but his love for her overshadowed his jealousy and anger, because he had been disappointing her for quite some time apparently, and he did the MATURE and right thing to go after her to save her. That takes more guts than pouting and having a childish jealous hissy fit under the circumstances. She told him to grow up and he finally did, in a way neither of them expected.

I've already seen the worst movie ever made, so it can only be uphill from there.

'childish jealous hissy fit...'

Err, Leo fingered his missus. Whether or not men cheat on women is irrelevant. The film aint a generalization about men or womoen. Bottom line, Beth cheated on him. She's quick enough to get all high and mighty and point out Zakes' faults in the early scenes in the car. But in retrospect, she is far worse than he is. No one forces the girl to stray with Leo. If Beth aint happy being with her BF then she doesn't have to stay with him. She can clearly get someone else (Leo) but would rather slag around behind her BF's back because... bottom line, she's a slag.

I don't think I'd risk my life to save someone like Beth. I don't think someone like Beth would risk her life to save a BF she clearly doesn't think much of either.

reply

Her life was in danger when he saw the message from Leo. It would indeed be a childish jealous hissy fit, and a crime, to let her die because of jealousy.

I've never read a female stating to let a cheating guy die but I've read several guys comments (on various movies) that they'd let the "bitch" die for cheating. It's stupid.

She did decide to leave Zake. That's when she was kidnapped, when she left Zake and called for her friend to pick her up.

I've already seen the worst movie ever made, so it can only be uphill from there.

reply

Yeah pity she decided to leave Zakes 'after' cheating on him. That was classy.

Letting her die would have nothing to do with having a 'jealous hissy fit'. I take it you've never had someone cheat on you.

reply

I take it you've never let someone die...

"To be possessed of a vigorous mind is not enough; the prime requisite is to apply it."

reply

That's not the point I'm making. What I'm saying is that when you find out the one you love has been cheating on you, the feelings you have amount to more than just a 'jealous hissy fit'. Dismissing it with a phrase like that shows the poster has clearly never been in that situation.

The other point I made was why bother risking your life to save someone who, if the shoe was on the other foot, probably wouldn't extend you the same courtesy. After all, if she doesn't care enough about you to keep her legs closed for five minutes, would she really care enough about you to risk her life for you?

reply

The answer to that is straight forward and very simple, but you may not like it.

If the decision of whether to save somebody's life depends entirely upon if they would do the same for you, then you are pretty low on morality. You will ONLY save them if you think they would save you. That is pure self-interest and nothing else. What kind of reasoning is being employed by you here? Is a child trapped in a burning building not worthy of being saved then, since they would unlikely be able to do the same if the situation was reversed? Are you, in actual fact, saying that only people who are able to save you, should you happen to get into danger, are worthy of being saved by you?

If your morality is based on whether the other person will return the favour, then you are a warped and selfish individual. Just look at the indignation and righteousness that you claim in your post, to see the evidence of that.

reply

"You will ONLY save them if you think they would save you."

I never said that at all. I was just making the point that if events were reversed, Zakes' GF probably wouldn't save him.

"If your morality is based on whether the other person will return the favour, then you are a warped and selfish individual. Just look at the indignation and righteousness that you claim in your post, to see the evidence of that."

I wouldn't blow what I wrote out of proportion, dude. Don't over-react. I was commenting on this film - nothing more. You're such a tough guy for someone sitting at kis keyboard throwing insults.

Let me ask you a question. Have someone you loved ever cheated on you?

reply

You take it wrong.

Letting someone die because you just got a text implying possible cheating (a text message from a someone, especially someone who wants your partner, doesn't mean it's true, so Zakes wouldn't even know it to be fact just from that) and it would be a jealous hissy fit under the circumstances, at best.

I've already seen the worst movie ever made, so it can only be uphill from there.

reply

Well I sort of get where you are coming from... but I think there are a lot more emotions etc... going through your mind when you find out the one you love has been cheating on you. All I was getting at is that dismissing it as a 'childish, jealous, hissy fit' shows you've never been in that situation before.

reply

You said you take it I've never been cheated on. I said you take it wrong, meaning that I have been cheated on. More than once.

In a life or death situation, as in this movie, putting one's own hurt ego (again, in the movie, all Zakes had was a text message from the guy, no real proof it was true) ahead of the very life of the person they supposedly love makes it a childish jealous hissy fit in comparison to his girlfriend being kidnapped, likely raped/tortured, and probably killed.

I've explained it as best I can in the context of a situation as in this movie and am done.

One of the events that prompts Zakes to press on in the face of grave danger is that he sees Beth's little heart drawing on the window: B + T... He believes that Beth still loves him despite their fight and what might have happened with Leo...

But even if Beth turned out to be a total slut+bitch (which she wasn't, remember the voice msg she leaves her friend in which she says that she was stupid for doing whatever with Leo -- but of course Zakes doesn't know about that msg), Zakes obviously still did the right thing. Beth doesn't come close to deserving what she was probably going to have done to her and Zakes was clearly the only savior Beth was going to have -- and Zakes knew it...

Beth is probably actually a pretty good person that just made a mistake... and not an uncommon mistake...

reply

"One of the events that prompts Zakes to press on in the face of grave danger is that he sees Beth's little heart drawing on the window: B + T"

that's 'Z+B' on the window. and beth wasn't in danger yet. as far as Z knew she was still inside the station. and he hadn't even read the sms yet.

reply

In a way, he got a little bit of a revenge by saving her because that should make her live with a feeling of guilt about cheating and knowing she was wrong about him.

He should dump her though.

reply

Did Leo send 2 text messages? was only the first one read? If so wonder what the 2nd one had said? Smelly fingers for dessert, wonder what the main course was

Well at least he can be smug in the knowledge that this Leo guy was an old, sleazy bastard with questionable hygiene habits. At least she didn't cheat with an adonis. She did a Rooney!!!!

Oh My God, I've got some *beep* ing Jaffa Cakes in my coat pocket!!!!

reply

I'd agree with this. Am I the only person to notice that Beth did go to the phones to call someone to get home. It seems the kidnapper didn't think of this.

reply

I agree

I would've turned around, went home, take a shower and get some sleep.
She wasn't worthy to be saved

I wouldn't have "left her to die", because there's no 100% guarantee she would have. I WOULD have left her to fend for herself as she made her desire to ditch him VERY clear prior to the incident (Leo's finger stink has nothing to do with it, okay, maybe it does). I also think he continued to pursue the trucker because (as the movie progressed) he was all but guaranteed to take the blame for the security guard murder, multiple stolen car charges, and the murder of the other kidnapped(?) girl and the old couple if he didn't prove his innocence in the end.

reply

Jesus, if, in your opinion, 'most men' would be willing to let their girlfriends die then I'm damn glad I've never met the men you've met.

Things I've gleaned from this post:

cjay702 is a reprehensible backstabber who'd leave someone (s)he'd known for years to die because she'd committed an infidelity

MyOpinions is a reprehensible sexist who'll take the vaguest chance to whine about her/his feelings about men

reply

*English is not my primary langage.

I agree with the OP, I would have left this *beep* die too.

reply

"Left her to die" is a harsh way of putting it. I certainly wouldn't have gone to the extreme's Zakes did after reading that message, but I would have ensured that at least SOMETHING was done about it. Heck I probably would have just waited behind that truck after I called the police (I thought trying to get inside anyway was a silly idea). Then again, we have to remember that Leo was very much in love with her. The first 20 minutes or so of the film made this very clear as we see them constantly fighting yet he continues to care for her. Little things like switching the radio off so she can get to sleep. This film is all about Zakes love for Beth despite what crap she may throw at him. The Leo side-story was just another example of such crap, however much like the fear, tension, and danger has been increased at that point, so did her betrayal and therefore his courage.

reply

I would have let her die too - not cause she cheated, but she was an unlikable bitch from the beginning.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

I would do the same.
she's not worth risking your for.
