question about the morphine withdrawal

When they are getting ready for the night when she withdraws from morphine, she remarks to him "This could get hairy. You saw the morphine." When is he supposed to have seen her using/possessing morphine?

Michael saw Sarah with the morphine on the table in front of her when he walked in to her house after learning that her father was in the German army - it's the scene right before he head butted the neighbor who vandalized her house.
