My daughters 6th birthday is coming up and she has asked for this movie.
We have all the other Barbie movies and enjoy them but after hearing about some of the plot points in this one (queen killing her husband?) I'm having second thoughts. I'm just looking for some opinions from those of you who have already seen it or maybe some suggestions for other films she would enjoy.

My eight-year-old absolutely loves this film (as does her 11-year-old big sister). The elements you mentioned are, in this dad's opinion, not nearly as intense as those found in many (most? all?) of the Disney animated classics. Ursula from "The Little Mermaid" freaked ME out, and I was 20 when the movie came out. The evil queen from "Snow White" haunted many a nightmare of my 4-year-old self. Granted, I haven't watched the entire movie start to finish, but I've seen most of it, if only from the kitchen while making dinner or whatever, and my kids tend to be extremely sensitive to any elements that can be considered frightening (our 11-year-old couldn't sleep after witnessing the violence in "Dances with Wolves" (!) and she loves this film), so, in my opinion, I'd think you're good to go. Is there any chance your could rent it before the party and watch it before she sees it?
