Some questions for believers

1) With so many different religions out there how do you know that the God you believe in is the right one? Aren't you also atheists when it comes down to believing in your God but not in the other Gods?

2) You always question atheists about the origin of the universe, yet never able to explain where your God came from. By the same logic why can't we argue that the universe has always existed as well?

3) Why do you need God?

reply

1. They can't, they can only use reasons that can also debunk. I have asked this question to religious people and they bashed the other Gods.

2. Basically.

3. Some people can't keep their s### together on their own.

reply

2. Science shows that all space-time-matter had a finite beginning. The Universe did not always exist.

First of all, thanks for spending your time to respond :)

1.) I don't know. I think that if there is a God there is only one God and he is pretty much the same God no matter what any religion teaches. A pen is still a pen no matter what name you call it. A Bic pen is a pen just like a Faber-Castell pen is a pen. They have different names, but ultimately they serve the same function

Why only one? this goes back to my question about religion, this is your belief that there is only one God.

2) I agree with you on this, science can not prove where the universe came from and never will, but at least it tries to explain, while religion tries to submit yourself and resigns to the unknown. In my belief the universe has always existed and this process is infinite, right now it is expanding, one day it will collapse again and another big bang will happen.

3) I believed in God and Santa Claus until the age of 10

I'm not a believer but I've had enough experience that I feel I can answer your questions.

1) This is actually two questions. First, they don't "know" they chose the right religion. They have faith that they're believing in the correct religion. Belief and knowing are practically antonyms.

Second, no they are not Atheists. Since the word Atheist means belief in no god. Believing in any god, singular or plural makes one a theist.

2) They don't need to explain where their God came from, because they're operating on the assumption that their God has simply always existed. There is no "where did god come from" because it's simply always been. The difference is, that science actually attempts to explain things while religion tends to simply accept things as true. So religious people use fallacious reasoning to dismiss the explanations of science.

3) Can't answer this one because the reasons are individual and rife.

Religious people claim that there is a god, but have no proof. Atheists claim there is no god, and have no proof.

We humble agnostics stand in the middle, and say we don't know, because there is no definitive proof either way. Neither side can proof that they are right.

OP clearly doesn't understand what the word atheism means. Maybe the word agnostic is also pretty new to him.
