DVD

Hey y'all! If Univision can release La Fea Mas Bella on DVD,then they should do the same thing for Pasion. I think it's the most romantic novela I've ever seen(aside from LFMB). Fernando Colunga is so talented & very SUPERSEXY. He absolutely sizzles in those HOT kissing scenes with Susana Gonzalez(lucky Susana). I really hope that Pasion will somehow get released on DVD(since it's not gonna be on TV for much longer). Anybody else agree?

It probably will, but it's going to be abridged. I think that Televisa releases full versions in Mexico but abridged versions elsewhere (check esmas.com sometime).

Abridged novelas run hot and cold because of how much material they cut to get to the usual 10-12 hour running time. Most novelas today have "filler scenes" which are expendable, but the abridgements also tend to leave out some of the best follow-up confrontation scenes that are the great teasers when the series is airing. For example, in EL PRIVILEGIO DE AMAR when Padre Juan sees Luciana for the first time in 22 years he finds out that his mother deliberately kept him from knowing that he had made Luciana pregnant. The two great confrontations that follow this are omitted from the DVD although they are two of the best early scenes in that series (which had 155 episodes).

Don't bother with the DVD of ABRAZAME MUY FUERTE if you are a Fernando Colunga fan; most of his scenes ended up on the cutting room floor. That also runs only just a little over 5 hours. The one of AMOR REAL is also too short.

Are the full versions released by televisa not edited at all? According to wikipedia, LFMB had 300 episodes, that would work out to a LOT of DVDs if shown as it was on TV.

I have no clue. Most of the abridged novelas today have double-sided discs (which I have mixed feelings about), so a complete set of LA FEA MAS BELLA might need 50 discs once the title sequences are removed in the internal parts of the discs, and the reminder scenes from the previous days' episodes.

I suspect that LFMB has a lot of filler scenes that are expendable, so it could be cut be a third. PASION doesn't have much of that, nor does a novela like LA ESPOSA VIRGEN. FUEGO EN LA SANGRE won't, either.

I suspect that cost is a reason why these aren't released complete. Not to mention that Televisa wants their public to watch their new shows as they air.

I ordered from elcompa a few weeks ago. They had a promotion - by 3TNs - get 1 free. The delivery was fast - less then a week. The only thing with Pasion - it recorded in PAL format - the first 13 discs were OK for me and then - format didn't work. I was planning before to buy cheap Philips DVD player that would play different formats and now I should get it. If the format of TN is NTC ( or smthng like that) - it's OK. I've just finished to watch Usurpadora ( that I bought from them as well) without any problems.
Just so you know - there are no subtitles ( neither Spanish nor English) on any TNs from them.

Have you got your copy of Pasion already? If so can you tell me if it is uncut or edited in any other way? I know english subs are not included but just tell me that scenes are all in tact and sound is added to the love scenes of the show cause I watched the show on youtube and for some strange reason, there is no sound to the love scenes.
