William is hot but George is my fav

I found this show one late night on some off tv channel. Then I started to binge watch all the episodes. I started watching because of Detective Murdoch but throughout the seasons (I'm now on 6) it's Constable Crabtree that has captured my heart. His character is goofy yet strong. I love how the writers let him come up with forward thinking "ideas". My favorite characteristic is when he places his hand up to his forehead. I also love his stories about his aunts. George is definitely the comic character of the show. He always makes me chuckle.

I like William as well, but I'd wish there would be more episodes where he'd loosen up a bit, let his hair down so to speak..
George is awesome...love how he comes up with all those ideas that sound weird to everyone else but are actually things that exist today.

reply

George is my favorite. I like all the characters but I'm most partial to George.

I love the episode when George and Julia discover each other at the "nature" camp.

reply

So far my favorite is where George and William go to Newfoundland and meet George's "aunts". And then George goes to drink and dance with the locals. lol I about wet myself. Such a great show.

reply

Yes, that's an especially good episode: very funny, but also very touching, I think. Adds another layer to the George character, and makes me like him even more.

Murdoch is gorgeous and brilliant and Crabtree is hilarious tho also quite surprisingly intelligent. And I can't help but love them both. !:]

This is Me, just as I Am, Now & Forever... lalumiere

Even tho I'm much older than him, I am smitten with George Crabtree! I love his energy, imagination, enthusiasm. And he's adorable.

My feelings exactly. I watched a clip where he goes to a young girls house to visit her. Since I live in the US, it was the only one I could watch. He just seems like a really great guy.

reply

What does living in the US have to do with it? I live in the US and I watch Murdoch every Saturday night on Ovation (it's called Artful Detective) and on Saturday afternoons and Sunday nights on a local channel here in the Tampa Bay area. The local channel leaves the Murdoch Mysteries name intact.

It's also available via Netflix and Acorn here in the US.

I guess not everyone can read.

I watched a clip...

The website that promotes MM is Canadian so you can't view all of their clips because of that.

Check out the webisodes on the Ovation Channel site of 'The Murdoch Effect' - George is amazing in the story!!!

Ha Ha I'll have to watch the rest of it. Pretty funny tho. Thanks for the link.

I totally agree that George is the comic of the bunch. I love his larger than life attitude and his crazy thoughts and opinions of murder scenes. I eagerly wait to hear what he has to say! I actually love all the characters. I love that William is always inventing new gadgets; that Julia is such a carefree coroner, and the colorfulness of Inspector Tommy!

reply

The entire cast is very good. I must confess that George is my favorite character. He has such a unique outlook on life. I am binge watching on Netflix on my days off.

reply

They cast him to be the funny character. The actor does standup and comedy writing.

reply

I love all the characters, and they make a great team - each very different from the others but dependable and cooperative, no character is too annoying or selfish.

That's one of the reasons the show has managed to stay on air for 10 years 😉

But when it comes to hotness, Murdoch doesn't even come close to Dr. Garland 😳 Jonathan Watton is the hottest actor in all of North America IMHO. Such a shame he played a negative character and was written off.

reply

I love Jonny Harris -- it was his standup comedy that hooked me on him. So I was delighted to find Murdoch Mysteries (many seasons in).

reply

George and the Chief Inspector are hilarious!

Yeah, Murdoch is a stiff, but his role is lantern jawed straight guy.
