Christian's need to quit buying everything that is labled christian!!!

Why do people keep paying these company's to put out more crap? I'm to the point that i dont buy a christian product unless i know the artist/company that put it out has talent. Puting out crapy stuff just makes all chrisitans look, bad, i should be too hard maybe they have a better graphics engine this time, but their ten commandment movie looked like a low quality Xbox game.

reply

I agree. Films like The Ten Commandments, Left Behind, etc. give Christian filmmaking a bad name. It's films like The Passion of the Christ that are succesful because of their quality. It showed studios christian films have market value. But with crap like this always coming out, we can throw any hope for God-honoring filmmaking in the future away.

reply

you two couldnt be any more right. i am a christian and at my christian high school's scriptwriting class, we spend a lot of time discussing why "christian" movies suck. its cause they try to tell a story with a message, when it shoud be to show a message through a story. I hope christians who buy these movies will lean that so maybe we will someday make some movies people will like.

reply

Wow, so you guys have read the script for this or something? Or are you just assuming it'll suck? Very "Christian" of you...

reply

i like how you are making fun of me judging by judging me. very a**hole of you.

btw, im sure it WILL suck.

reply

I think this person was pointing out that you were judging the movie b4 it comes out. Then you go and call this person names? Look in the mirror, after all even Christ said "let he who has no sin cast the first stone." Practice what you preach.

reply

That's cute to equate judging a person to judging a movie

reply

You are truly a wackadoodledoo who needs to get off the jesus juice and start practicing what you preach. You call someone an A hole? I am NOT a Christian and even I don't use that word. Hypocrite. Seems to be typical of you "Christians" these days. It's just a word and a country club where the owner is jesus.

reply

With all the Jewish actors/actresses that are doing this movie, who really knows if it's a "Christian" movie, hey? Noah was in the OT, no? And, the OT is the Torah, right? The NT is supposed to be what Christians only should be following, not the OT. At least, from my understanding of Christianity.

reply

Yeah, I wouldn't call this just a Christian movie, maybe something like Jewish/Christian or Judeo-Christian or whatever. But nammage you're wrong about one thing. People think that Christians only follow the NT, but my dad's a pastor and he believes it's important to read and follow both. That's a very important thing at my church, and I believe it should be for all Christians.

Anyway, this should just be considered a movie, for Christian people or Jewish people or whoever else wants to see it.

reply

I'm not wrong about anything; all I hear from Christians all the time, or read online by Christians all the time (and I belong to Christian websites) is that Christians follow the New Testament, and do not have to pay attention to the Old Testament (yet, those same people quote from the Old all the time), and I hear/read this all the time by Christians. However, it states in the "NEW TESTAMENT", in Matthew, that Jesus said that one still has to obey the laws of the OT, and that he was just reinforcing them in the NT.

Most Christians only follow the NT, and only use the OT when it benefits them in discussions with those they are in arguments with (whether Christian, another religion, or non-religion).

It may not be true for you, or your father the pastor, or even the Church in which you attend but it is true for most of all other Christians whether you, or anyone else wish to believe it's true, or not.

reply

Yes, nammage I know exactly what you mean. As a Christian, I recognize that there are a lot of stupid Christians who don't think all the rules apply to them. Oh well, we're all stupid humans.

Anyway, in my first post I just wanted to be sure that you didn't think that all Christians are like that. I can't speak for all the Christians, but I do know most of the Christians I know value the OT greatly. Anyway, no hard feelings.

I am curious, are you Christian? You say you belong to some Christian websites and you insight of the Bible seems to indicate that possibility.

Anyway, God Bless you and your insight.

No, I'm Agnostic. However, a person who's going to argue a point, should at least know a lot about the point in which they are arguing. But, being an Agnostic, this does not mean that I wish to change anyones minds on what they believe; believe what you believe, just don't shove it down my throat when I refuse the first time, 'cause I will aggressively fight back. (note: not in a vulgar, or profane manner)

lol I just love it when someone who isn't a Christian thinks they know more about Christianity than those of us who are devout Christians and have been so for most of our lives.

Teach us, oh wise one!

I'm a former Southern Baptist of 19 years. Most atheists/agnostics/ignostics who live in the U.S. (or most of any Western country) are former Christians be that Catholic or Protestant.

I currently own the Qu'ran, the Torah (OT), and the New Testament; as well as the Mormon books, and a few Jehovah Witness books.

How many non-theistic books do you own oh wise one?

I'm on the road less traveled...

reply

Mind if I chime in here?

We do not follow the OT - that is the Law of Moses - the "old Law". We now follow Christ's law - the new law - or as Paul called it, "The law of liberty."

That's NOT to say that the OT doesn't have very valuable lessons - it most certainly does! But we just don't follow that law anymore.

The old law was done away with when Christ died on the cross, so yes, in Matthew Christ says to follow the old law, because he hasn't died yet.

Oh my, I just realized how old this thread is (and I haven't read all the way thru yet!)

well we can only safely assume it will suck since "The Ten Commandments" sucked and it is being put out by the same exact company....

reply

You get a lot of good Christian movies that go straight to dvd...

Unfortunately most of the movies that hit the cinemas are the crap ones. A really good one that comes to mind that tells a story through a story is "Faith like Potatoes"

Inspired by a true story in South Africa.

Ranking isnt great but it's a good movie.

reply

The ten commandments was actually an awesome movie...I'm referring to the old Ten commandments not the cgi one...

reply

Perhaps that's Hollywood's intention? After all, they made the davinci code, eh?

reply

wait, what are you saying is there intention?

reply

of all the so-called "Christian" hollywood movies, I'd say the one that bugs me the least is the animated "Prince of Egypt" and its counterpart "Joseph: Coat of Dreams" EVEN THOUGH they are still riddled with inaccuracies.

reply

How exactly would their be "accurate" accuracies?

Given the cast of this movie I'd be willing to bet they're just going to make fun of Christian's believing in the flood.

The Q'uran was written thousands of years AFTER the Torah, and the reason it is a "common monotheistic story" is because its TRUE.

It's common amongst three religions who worship the same deity. Yeah, there's the proof right there that's based on facts.

Uh no, it's a common story because it was ripped off of the Sumerians, who made it up a couple thousand years before the Torah existed.

reply

Wrong. Before the Sumerians and Semites came into contact with one another, there was no concept of a God such as is know in the Torah. Pre-Semetic Sumerian religion is a kind of pantheism, which has no relationship to the God of the Torah. Sorry, try again.

This thread doesn't even make sense. Since when do Christians buy anything that is labeled Christian? What Christian artist/band is in the top 40 ever? Did any of these "crappy" Christian movies that are referred to make a huge amount of money? There are a lot of Christians out there but I don't see them spending millions and millions on these movies.

Now, you take some real crap movies, like almost anything in the horror genre, and young people will fork over tons of money to see them. They might not make Star Wars money, but based on the demographic, they make good money.

reply

Who cares..it's all Fantasy in the end anyway and produced by people who want to make money off a genre and a target market - yes, you Christians are a target market - ITS BUSINESS and so is Religion.

I mean, Christians saw THE PASSION as some revelation on film, when in reality it was an over the top, violent, rehash of something we have all seen before - and Mel netted millions upon millions for it - as did the film companies.

...except He's not there.

reply

I think you need to remove "and the film companies" out of that equation since Mel Gibson used millions and millions of his own money to make the film, and therefore was produced through his film company. I'm sure one or two other film companies got a little profit but doubtful anyone other than Mel Gibson received a bigger profit, since it was his money, after all.

MC Hammer had a hit with that "You've got to pray" song.

The Good News Boys had some hits here in Australia.

Snoop Dog, Tupac, Eminem, Dr Dre and most other rappers are christian and have songs to god on their albums, not that they are well liked by the Christian Community.

Limp Bizkit was very religious when they made their first album, 3 Dollar Bill, with a killer cover of 'Faith'. (Fred Durst is a total douche tho and the band is rubbish)

There was that annoying song 'What if God was one of us'

I know there is a Chritian Top 30 Chart and the main players from that don't get much love on the radio, but that is for the best. I am sure someone smarter than me could name 100 better examples.

reply

Either you are a small child or totally mental. First, Limp Bizkit has never had anything "religious" in their music. Their cover of Faith was pathetic and it only got them popular because their obvious attempt at making fun of 80's music. The song Faith isn't a religious song at all. Having faith doesn't only pertain to religion.

reply

Woah, A small child or totally mental, they are my options? Well I'm mental then. But check the thankyous and tributes on the inside cover of the 'three dollar bill' album. They are/were relious. But I guess you being such a huge fan would know this.
What a cock.

reply

It was mentioned in the Torah first, then the "Bible". Of course, there were pagan beliefs of "Great floods" before Judaism, and Christianity (and Islam).
