Have you guys noticed something about black movies on IMDb?
They usually don't have a good amount of votes and a mediocore rating.

Look at most of his stuff. He's films usually do good at the box office but yet they have very little votes. It just bugs me. Also Bringing Down the House was succesful at the box office but yet it only has about 12,000 votes on IMDb.

How about low ratings for all of Tyler Perry's films?
ATL
This Christmas
Two Can Play that Game
Brown Sugar
Are We There Yet?
Are We Done Yet?
College Road Trip
Drumline
Pride
First Sunday
These are not examples of great movies. But they are unfairly rated. "Why Did I Get Married?" a 3.9??? Come on now. ATL a 4.5?? Come on now. Can we get people that have actually seen these movies to give a rating??
And yes Fred Durst directed it but the two leads are African-American. But not all predominately black movies get low ratings, the serious dramas usually fare better. The blacks suffering movies. But usually the black comedies get low ratings where the ratings are just ridiculously out of proportion. The 10's and 1's are just not accurate. How many times have you actually gone to see a movie at the theater and have given it a 1??? A movie that low is usually a movie you didn't want to watch in the first place and therefore would not have gone to see it in the movie theater.
People are rating these movies without actually watching them.
Your three examples. GREAT FILMS. But all dramas. And for those movies, the ratings are still pretty low. LOL. The Color Purple should easily be in the top 250.

i could not believe the rating for Harlem Nights. 5.3? seriously? one of the best movies with some of the greatest comedians ever..and a 5.3? somethin aint right with that..
shareWell all of those movies you mentioned sucked terribly and they deserve their bad rating. I think this movie sucked but it should get higher than 2.6 though. 4.0 is enough.

You ever notice that there are black films, black colleges, black churches, black cable channels? Most over-represented ethnic group in the country. You know who backs it, who finances it? White people. Rich, cowardly white people.
"Here Mr. Black Man, want to eat my food? Come on in, want to sleep in my bed? Want to *beep* my wife Mr. Black Man?" Please...
@apache86
And just what the hell is your point? Black people having their own seperate things is due to the legacy of segregation, which was STARTED by white people. And black people DO finance our own companies and TV stations, thank you very much. If we were so "overrepresented" as you claim (which is bull****) we wouldn't need our own channels to show things about OUR interests and issues as a people, and our own culture. Before you start that old, tired "why isn't a white people history month bull****" remember we are taught white history for most of the damn year---how the hell does having ONE month (plus the shortest month of the year) to celebrate our history a big deal? Grow up and read some history, please, because once again, another white person not knowing what in the hell they're talking about.
My point was that white people are, in fact, very phuggin' dumb. That's all. What you're taught most of the year is HISTORY. Not "white" history. Only a racist would see it as white or black. Morgan Freeman, a man whose extreme intelligence should be bottled and sold to the dumbed down masses, said it best - "Black history is AMERICAN history." It's part of the narrative of American history, nothing more. Only racists want to keep perpetuating segregation by singling out things such as "black history", and terms such as "African American". It doesn't matter now, I wrote that 3 years ago. I've long since left America to go find the American Dream.

I think it is pretty well know, by movie marketers, that white audiences don't got to movies with black people as the main characters.
They will go to movie with _A_ black star, even in the lead, if the rest of the cast is primarily white.
It's too bad for white people, since they miss some wonderful movies -- like this one.
I Mean Tyler Perry is a good example
But I realized that some white people even go
to some of his films on IMDB
and give his movies bad ratings without seeing them
It's just the IMDB racists
They've been here since IMDB had message boards.
We just ignore them..At least I do
All I have to say is
OBAMA 2008!!!!!!!!
After seeing the IMDB ratings of 'The Longshots', 'Pride' and several of Tyler Perry's funny films, I believe IMDB ratings is nothing but a joke. So what I have learned is whenever I see a film in IMDB that has mostly 10 and 1 ratings, it means the film must be good and worthwhile seeing.
It’s sad to see IMDB full of such people who deliberately gave out a rating of 1 to many good, upbeat African-American films.
