I do not think James deserved Em (Spoilers).

I love this movie, and it is one of my favorite movies, but I really think that James talked way too much (he was such a big mouth).

He talked to all his friends at the park about the personal times that he has with Em, and I really do not think it was right of his to do that.

She was cheating on him (in a way), but I think what he did to her was much worse.

I would not have been blabbing my mouth off about everything I did with her (if I was him), and in the end, he really did not seem all that apologetic to her (as he really should have been, to have any chance of deserving her, and her forgiveness).

I just think the movie would have been so much better if he had not been such a big mouth.

There really was no need for him to brag to everyone about his personal experiences with her, and also cheating on her with Lisa P, and telling Lisa P what he knew about Em and Connell (that was pretty messed up I thought).

His character just kind of annoyed me, and I do not think he deserved her.

I disagree. Although him and Em weren't officially dating Em was sleeping with a married man, thats worse than kissing a girl. James spoke to his friends about what they did because he was probably just excited, he was a virgin and had never been in love with a girl before.

reply

Right. I almost thought Em didn't deserve James, but then they seemed so darned right together.

reply

I agree completely! James didn't even stop and listen to Em when he "caught" her. If he would've let her explain, the situation would've been easily understood, but no, he walks away and tells someone what has been going on while not knowing the whole story. That was so stupid of him, and then he expects Lisa P to not tell anyone? He hardly knew her.

I don't understand how Em could just forgive him even if he hurt her really badly.

reply

Yeah, God forbid it's the girl's fault for a chance. Picking on minor stuff the guy did to shift blame from the girl. Never a woman's fault, is it?

reply

Ok, then tell us what Em did wrong. And if the only thing you can come up with is how Em "cheated" on he main character then yikes.

For starters, she was *beep* a married guy. I can understand why James was angry at her. She wasn't honest with him.

You keep on reminding me of a darkness only I can see

James said the most important thing in all this when he confessed to Em.

He said that he knew they hadn't agreed on exclusivity. His admission right there is pretty much saying he felt justified in going out with Lisa P. But it also gives Em the same right.

They hadn't agreed on anything.

But his confessing did change the nature of their relationship. He was, in effect, saying he wanted to be exclusive with her.

She went straight away and ended her relationship with Ryan Reynolds in order to reciprocate James' action.

So, no. She did nothing wrong.

reply

Agreed.
