Hold your breath.. CC2C US weekend estimates are out...

.. And people who said that this movie will do better abroad as it had better reviews there are WAY, WAY wrong.

The weekend estimate of CC2C is a SHOCKING 691,000 USD. The movie had the widest release EVER. It was playing in 130 theatres with record number of showtimes for a bollywood movie and it put up a VERY, VERY disappointing figures. Infact, people are claiming that the actual figures might come around 650,000 USD, 41,000 short of the estimate.

This is very shocking for WB as CC2C was hyped overseas like no bollywood movie ever. And also Akki's last super-hit had earned more than 1 Million USD in its first weekend on lesser cinemas. Looks like this movie is going to be a disappointment at box-office.

Its weekend in India is estimated to be around 22 crores (including paid previews), which is well below expectation of trade.

I am waiting to see how much the movie grosses at UK boxoffice. Akki is the second most popular bollywood actor in UK. SIK had also earned well in UK. Maybe UK numbers will be better than US.

Watched in London this evening. It was horrible. Half of the audience left mid-way. I hung around to see if things improved but was dissappointed.

The theatre was less than half full. Not suprisingly, even though this was the first week. Ghajini ran for the last three weeks in this popular central London theatre house-full!

In the name of Kung Fu and Mariat Arts, the fanatasy of the production team must have been to sell this really rubbish script thinking the action and so called special effects would make-up for the bad direction - but this has clearly fallen flat on its face.

Majority of special effects are appalling, you can see the pixels in the background or you can see the lack of smooth movement in jumps and action sequences filmed badly with ropes.

The screenplay bar the first 3 minutes of the film is really bad and looks like a bad stage play. I can go on and on but will stop now. Its has been a complete waste of time. Am a fan of Ashay but he clearly has over-over-acted in this one.

this is simply not the right movie to use to spread bollywood. Dhoom 2 was a monster success because it had enough of a mainstream hollywood vibe that could attract people - and it didn't even go out of its way to market to the US - but managed to be a success anyway.

i think they could market dhoom 3 and get good results - just don't call it dhoom 3, just give it a subtitle so the audience doesn't feel like they missed out on the other movies - and make a normal but cool trailer that works for american audiences and not ridiculous ones like chandi chowk.

Dhoom 2 was a success because they were trying to imitate western culture, CC2C however is trying to markey indian culture with martial arts like how Kungfu Hustle tried to promote chinese culture.

reply

Yeah and kung fu hustle didnt have anything to do with this movie?

Dhoom 2 was pure crap cinema
CC2C was like kungfu hustle, kungfu panda, james bond meets kill bill etc
