Nice to see some good afghan's for a change

I was beginning to think they where all evil but now we know some of them are very good people.

Also anyone else think it was convenient that the one guy that lived was the one who didn't want to just kill the old man and two kid's. Am not saying Marcus is a liar it just made me think for all we know Marcus could've been the one who wanted to kill them and the other three talked him out of it.

I don't think his aim would be to tarnish the reputation of his dead brothers. If anything, he could have omitted that occurrence completely if he felt it portrayed him in a dim light.

What juvenile world view would have had you believing Afghans were 'all evil'?

Yours is a Juvenile view, .... in fact all the rest of you too

Because you don't understand that you have to observe the result from the collective behavior of a people, and not get swayed by individual behavior

Because you cannot understand Pashtunwali. This same Afghan who will protect a guest because of his tradition will also kill a boy-child or rape a girl-child because of his tradition. The collective behavior of the Afghan is violent towards his enemy or his women.

Because the West loves to romanticize about these Afghans without realizing that these people have loyalty for nobody because they don't have the ability to think. All they know is to fight for an imaginary cause and their collective behavior will not change.

You can criticize me, but you kid is going to criticize you one day when these Afghans get into some kind of dominating position against the West

Darkness lies an inch ahead

How ignorant are you?

reply

Not very, thanks for asking. how ignorant are you?

It's an expression not to be taken literally, you know like when someone says "I thought it would never rain" they don't literally mean they thought the world would be without rain forever. I used that expression to emphasise that the media never gives good stories about Afghans, it's all terrorism, murders and subjugation of women and minorities. The post was literally just saying nice to see some good representation of afghans, of course they have decent normal people but people especially the young and naive would be forgiven for thinking otherwise due to the negative portrayal of all middle eastern people by the media.

Ok, just checking.

I'll agree with that. Too many movies out there ignore the fact that the Middle East is a mixture of many different ideas and politics and opinions. Its unfair to group all of them into one large group of Taliban sympathizers that hate America.
