Yeah, it kind of is. Although the villain in here is a lot greedier, and seems less of a fan of the books.

That's what I was thinking too when I watched it tonight. I was glad to see there wasn't any torture going on! lol Geez.. What a movie that would be!

I thought the same thing, Misery for kids.

Exactly what I thought when I read the premise. I thought, 'Oh it's like a ripoff of Misery, except tamer'. I never actually watched the movie, and I probably never will.

Misery is a 1990 movie starring Kathy Bates and James Caan. It revolves around a woman named Annie Wilkes, played by Bates, who kidnaps her favorite writer, played by James Caan, and tortures him. When someone says "Misery for Kids", they are referring to the fact that the plot is pretty much a copy of Misery's, except toned down for younger audiences.

It's okay. I guess the term could have a duel meaning. The first refers to the fact that it's a ripoff of the book and movie, Misery. The second could refer to the fact that whoever watches it will probably be miserable.

You know, as much as I agree with the OP, there are other discrepancies, besides the kid-friendly nature of this version. One is the fact that unlike Annie Wilkes, the villain in this movie doesn't care if either the hero or the author lives. In fact, he's very much banking on the idea of both Neal Morris and his character dying, so he can make a fortune off the demise of Morris and his series.
