Dosen't Make Sense

After looking at the posts here, I realize that it is a sequel to another horror movie.
This may explain why it has so many non sequiturs: The meteror or alien space ship or whatever it was, the old man in the hospital gown appearing out of nowhere, the cook disappearing and reappearing, the shifting time sequences and finally, the mythology of the Reekers origins and purposes. Also, it is strange for a "Death" character to be sadistic. Most Death characters appointed by whatever powers may be are just efficient. It is a job, not fun and games.
I like complex movies where you have to see it more than one time for all the pieces to come together. Dark City is one of my favorites. I know that unlike Dark City, this is just a third rate horror movies, but even a third rate horror movies need coherence.
The actors who were good deserved a better vehicle.

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.

No, actually that doesn't explain the non sequiturs...

it wasnt a spaceship

it was a bird on fire, from the initial explotion. we see this again in more detail at the end (during the flashback/recap scenes)

and also... the man appearing from nowhere... its because when people die, they go to this place and this appointed ghost tortures them and makes them die fully by recreating their fatal injuries himself. This old man died of open heart surgery so the reeker removes his heart in the same ironic way while he is in this limbo... ie the drill to the head to recreate the bullet to the head... using a wildanimal skull to remove the indian guys innards to recreate him being eaten by buzzards and cayotes... the pipe through the doctor's stomach to recreate the same pipe that was blown into her from the first blast....

Thanks for your explanations, nwbud, although I think you were replying more to the OP than me, but appreciated...

I wondered how I could forget a spaceship in this!

I thought it was a plane on fire until I backed up and watched that scene again.

In heaven everything is fine.
