Were we supposed to feel for these characters??

Because that agenda certainly missed the mark. In fact, I couldnt wait for Nick Richey's character to get shot and/or eaten, frankly. His character was probably the biggest d-bag in the history of a Hollywood movie. Is that what they were going for? I will say he was funny at times because he was such an a-hole. Typically, in a movie such as this we're supposed to develop a relationship with the characters so we can feel real emotion when awful things happen to them. The entire 4-some was nothing but a bunch of self-centered, self-indulged punks that most people wouldnt care if they got run over by a bus. Yea, the couple that made it to the end, had some redeeming character in that they werent drug and alcohol abusers like the other couple but still, that was about their only redeeming quality.

I don't think the writers were looking for audience sympathy..at least for those 2 characters. the d-bag & the blonde drunk were both ma$$holes...especially the wannabe-gangsta douchbag!...he deserved the slow death he got.

But if you look at the movie that inspired this one (Cannibal Holocaust), the characters also turned into unsympathetic a$$h0les, so they didn't miss the mark.

Agreed. The characters were extremely annoying and unlikable. I didn't care if any of them survived being in the jungle with the angry natives, which in turn totally destroyed any tension this film might have had.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

I don't see how that's possible. Aside from Colby, who seemed pretty down to earth (and was pretty hot), they were all either horribly acted, whiny and annoying, loathesome people, or some combination of the previous 3.
