Sputnik Sweetheart

now i know that this may be a bit of a tall order, but...

does anyone know a place where i could get a copy of the monologue that Kate read in episode 6. i thought it was so beautiful and i am considering reading it in my own drama class.
any ideas are much appreciated on how i could get it, without actually reading the book.

“And it came to me then. That we were wonderful travelling companions but in the end we were no more than lonely lumps of metal in their own separate orbits.
From far off they look like beautiful shooting stars. When the orbits of these two satellites of ours happened to cross paths, we could be together. Maybe even open our hearts to each other. But that was only for the briefest instant. The next instant we’d be in absolute solitude. Until we burned up and became nothing.”

I loved the monologue, i thought Kate was amazing x

thanks alot.

it was a really amazng scene and kate does it so well, she surprises me aswell as previously she made it evidently clear that she couldnt act well in the class.

part of kates problem was that she could not show any emotion through her acting.in that scene she has just broken up with owen for good and i think she chose that piece because it described her and owens relationship really well.so she put her heart into it and made it a really touching scene.

Why would you read it in your own drama class without reading the book?

At least skim read it!

What would you say if someone asked you a question about it? 'Oh I got it off a tv show, some girl read it and it sounded cool'?

Sputnik Sweetheart is by Haruki Murakami, who is a reaaaally great author. Definately worth the read!

Maybe you'll find another beautiful piece that you can read and make your own. HIs books are full of deliciously poignant stuff like that.
