WHen did wesker start having an english accent?

It was a long time since I've played the original on PS1 but I don't remember him with an accent. I'm pretty sure it was RECV. Anyone know for sure!

Blame the new voice actor.

To be honest i would not care if he a bad a very bad Scottish accent. He would still be the cool villian he is.

reply

I think it's great. Wesker has had several voice actors I'm just trying to find out when he got it.

yes the guy from cvx, 4 and 0 was the best. In the original remake he had some crazy accent that didn't even sound good, it sounded american.

I was pretty sure I posted in this thread. Why do Americans insist that Wesker sounds British, or English, rather? Do you just generally have difficulty differentiating accents?

I've played all the games and I haven't heard Wesker have a British accent. I only had a brief go on UC and never encountered Wesker, but all the other games he's in he has an American* accent, because, well, ya know, he is an American.

*Canadian, whatever. Same thing.

reply

Does it really matter what accent he has?

We need to get some guy with a heavy Indian accent in RE5.

reply

I see ur point he just says things that sound british like charmed and what not.

"I'm not interested in Saturn, I said Mars."

reply

Why an english accent? Because he's cool that's why.

"I'm taking you to the station!..Where is it?"

reply

I think it's just a posh american accent.

reply

I think it's meant to be Englsih but not done very well. I think Johnny Depp is the only American actor to master the English accent.

"I'm taking you to the station!..Where is it?"

reply

You are joking, aren't you? I mean on all accounts.

1. Wesker is supposed to sound like he does, not English.
2. Johnny Depp's English accent sounds very tongue-in-cheek and laughable at times.
3. There are many American actors who can do English accents.

reply

I think American actors always seem to do the stereotypical post English accent while Englisj actors seem to do the stereotypical southern American accent.

He sounds American in RE1 and REmake but everything else he sounds slightly English.

Wesker's accent isn't British. I would call it "aristocratic". That being said, Richard Waugh did Wesker's voice in CVX, 0, and 4. The other games featuring Wesker (1 & UC) had different actors, but Waugh's voice is considered the quintessential Wesker voice, and will probably be back for RE5.

reply

when he was still human he was American, butthen when he was killed he came back to life he came back with a British accent

reply

Wesker got the English accent when he returned in Code Veronica.

The new Bond flick should've been called Quantum of Soulless instead!

reply

He had an English accent in RE Biohazard 1 and Resident Evil 0, as far as I can tell.

You're only noticing it now because it (along with the rest of the voice acting in the game) is so terrible.

reply

He's always had an American accent.
In this he just seems more smug, more nasally, and a hell of a lot less trustworthy when he says "I'll stay and secure the area."
He draws everything out and uses unnaturally clear diction, sometimes almost over-enunciating.
Not English in the least, but annoying nonetheless.

reply

I actually kinda like the accent. It may be over the top a bit, but it sounds so moustache-twirlingly evil. And, truth be told, I LOVE the clear diction. It's a refreshing contrast to a world of increasing mispronunciation and people who can't express themselves without using the word "like" several times per sentence.

Recovering DME addict; I literally had to die before I could get off the stuff.

I had an opportuniy to meet Richard Waugh who use to do Wesker's voice before DC Douglas took over. He told me his Wesker voice is loosely based on David Bowie. DC does a good impression of Richard Waugh, but as many have said Richard will always be Wesker. So sad the Man in the Shades is dead. Video Games lost a great villian the day Resident Evil 5 came out.

Why are you wearing that stupid man-suit?

reply

I think DC Douglas explains it best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YzMIs9h5Hg
