Jørgen
I have lived in Sønderjylland for 3 years and never seen anyone dress up like Jørgen (Kim Bodnia). I think this was an exaggeration by the director to make the town more redneck-ish.

I noticed this as well. It's not just Jorgen either, most of the townspeople dressed in a way peculiar to rural America.
shareI think the use of an American rural setting was by design. Even the grid pattern of the tiny town and the false fronts of the local store scream "American southwest". I think the director wanted to unsettle European audiences and make a slippery tip-of-the-hat to the Hollywood films that inspired the imagery. Kira Skov's music video for the film "Riders on the Freeway" continues this imagery.
