Jørgen

I have lived in Sønderjylland for 3 years and never seen anyone dress up like Jørgen (Kim Bodnia). I think this was an exaggeration by the director to make the town more redneck-ish.

I noticed this as well. It's not just Jorgen either, most of the townspeople dressed in a way peculiar to rural America.

I think the use of an American rural setting was by design. Even the grid pattern of the tiny town and the false fronts of the local store scream "American southwest". I think the director wanted to unsettle European audiences and make a slippery tip-of-the-hat to the Hollywood films that inspired the imagery. Kira Skov's music video for the film "Riders on the Freeway" continues this imagery.
