How did the PLANT appeared on Earth ? Is it some kind of alien or what ? Or is this whole movie just a metaphor and everything is "not real" ? I understand all other parts pretty much clearly, but only this question bugs me a lot. HOW ?

It could be an alien species as you speculated, or it could be something genetically manipulated. It doesn't matter all that much, I think, so one can leave this to their own fantasy.
