Arrest a guy for cursing?? What?

Just saw an episode of the show where a cop pulls over a delivery boy on his way to a customer. Turns out the kid had a suspension in New York that he was supposedly unaware of. So, being peeved he cursed a couple of times. He didnt get threatening to the cop at all. Nor did he curse AT the cop. The kids sister or whatever had to pick him up and he was cursing about how it was BS and the cop stopped them from driving away and told her to keep him from cursing of he's going to arrest him.

WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS!? He even said the kid cursed AT HIM which was a total lie. Im sure if he actually did the editors would have shown it because it would have made for better TV viewing....

But my point is a damn cop cannot arrest a person because they are cursing. Its straight up bullsh!t. I fully understand the need for cops and I fully understand they have a more then stressful job but threatening to arrest for cursing is an obvious abuse of power. They were leaving, the car was in motion and he stopped them because he heard cursing. What a f-cking dickhead.

Cursing is a sign of anger. Anger is outlawed in many states because it is the leading cause of violence.

reply

a policeman can arrest you for any reason like cursing

reply

Maybe in a fascist country but I thought I was living in the United States.

reply

even living in the US you dont have the right to be a prick. and lets face it disrespecting cops is not a good idea.

reply

Actually you fully DO have the right to be a prick. There is no law against being a jerk as long as you're not breaking other laws. Also there is no law telling us we have to respect and bow before cops when they speak to us, in fact if there were that's a slippery slope to classism and fascism.

reply

so what your saying is your right to happiness and freedom of speech allow you to be a jerk and you shouldn't expect consequences? You were the kinda kid that thought it was funny to piss the teacher off in high school werent ya?

reply

No actually I'm a very polite quiet guy and fully believe in "do unto others". However I also fully believe in constitutional rights and one of those is as long as you aren't breaking any other laws, if you want to be an obnoxious prick well...that's your call. It's not illegal, it shouldn't run you into hassle from cops, you'll lose out on PLENTY of social interaction just by the way you act, but I believe in freedom of choice and if someone chooses to be a swearing idiot around me I will choose to walk away from them. That is the beauty of our society.

reply

Actually swearing, cursing, mouthing off and going off can fall under disorderly conduct. The cop should have arrested that fool

The show is fake anyway?

reply

It boggles my mind people are siding with the cop.

The guy DID NOT CURSE AT THE COP. HE was in the car, talking to his sister. He cursed as the car was pulling away and the dick cop heard it and made them stop. This is no law against cursing. Especially if you are in privately owned property.

reply

No kidding, so long as he wasn't becoming aggressive or threatening then there shouldn't be a reason to arrest him, ESPECIALLY if he wasn't cursing AT him, although i haven't seen this episode. But then there are quite a few cops who take advantage of people not knowledgeable of their rights.

reply

They can arrest you for cursing or telling an officer off.

You do have a point the editors would have shown it to make a better show OR the executives told the editor to cut the cursing out to protect the cops...

reply

Arrest him
