What camera are they shooting with?

Got curious because there's no tech spec.

Anyone knows? Anyone working on the film?

Please correct my grammar, make my day.

It's definitely digital, my guess is it could be Red? Certainly not Genesis.

Although I really liked the movie, the visual quality where I saw it was poor. I know complaining about digital versus film is futile because it will eventually all be digital, but the digital projection at Village 8 in Louisville tonight was terrible... much worse than what I've seen at the local Stonybrook theater or digital presentations in other cities. I can't figure out if it is how this film was shot, or if Village 8 digital projection (very new there, as far as I'm aware) wasn't set up correctly... Very distracting. Jaggy lines... in anything but closeups, it was hard to make out facial features on the characters... etc. Worse than analog television, seriously.

I think your problems were projector caused. Some theaters have been showing movies digitally on the projectors they use for pre-show advertisements. Most recently Fathom Events had a nation-wide Wizard of Oz screening that theaters showed on those projectors.

I'd complain to the theater and let them know you won't be seeing films there anymore. Digital projection should be crystal clear. I haven't seen the film yet but when I do I'll let you know if it's digital or a film transfer. The theater that's playing it near me is usually pretty good projection-wise, so I'll see if I have the same issues.

How is your theater's film projection normally?

I saw a sneak preview last Wednesday in L.A., and James Mottern the director was there for a Q&A afterwards, and this very question was asked.

He replied that in pre-production, he and his DP tested out super 16 film, 35 film, and the Genesis high end digital video system.

He found that with film in the outdoor night scenes (of which there are many in the movie), he had to use so much light on the faces it lost something for him in what his vision for those scenes was. But he said Genesis was awesome and he really responded to it and it gave him the look he was imagining. So that's what was used
He said Panavision gave them a very big discount, so that his million and a half dollar film could afford it.
