I just noticed IMDB has 14 votes listed for Trucker giving it a score of 4.8 - now everything I'm hearing is tha this movie is generating a lot of buzz - even talk of being Oscar nomination worthy so what's up with the low votes here?? have 14 people here even SEEN the movie yet?
shareIf you click on the number of votes posted, you'll see that the arithmetic average is actually 8.1. However, IMDB posts a weighted average which is some secret formula they use to offset the possibility that fans (or detractors too, I suppose) try to stuff the ballot box, so to speak...
I'm assuming that as more viewers post their rating (assuming they are positive ones), you'll see the average go up.

I guarantee you there is no Oscar buzz about this film. It's a direct to dvd, solid B movie.

shareI think it's the same kind of Oscar buzz Frozen River got... that ended up being nominated for Best Actress.
shareTrucker can't hold a candle to Frozen River, nor can M. Monaghan's performance vs. that of Melissa Leo's. If only Trucker's Diane were as interesting as Leo's Ray Eddy (or Tilda Swinton's Julia, for that matter) -- Now THAT would have been a movie. As it is, I agree with the poster who said it's a solid B movie. Monaghan is blah and predictable and too pretty-- As boring as she was in Gone Baby Gone.

shareGranted they do give out Oscar's to some pretty bad films, but very rarely anything quite this bad. 5/10 for me, so the 4.8 was a good warning to you in my view.
