Should Have Focused on the Road

I think the movie would have been much better if it was more of a mother-son road trip movie. It could have been set during the summer so the son wouldn't have had to go to school. Most of the movie would have been about their reconciliation traveling together in her big rig. We saw some of that after he was dumped on her. It was the most interesting part of the movie for me. A mother-son big rig road trip hasn't done before in a movie, AFIAK.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. When she mentioned she was going to Boston, I thought "here's a great place for a cross-country road trip!"

But they decided to stick with the local story. Then the dad's storyline became more important, so I guess they needed to be there.

I disagree. It would have made it too easy, they would be forced to spend time with practically only each other the entire time and bong and love each other la la la... I feel like that did happen but there were all sorts of other things along the way that they had to deal with while repairing their relationship. Your way is good, but the movies was better.

I wish it was more of a road trip movie as well.
