What was Rath's "relationship" to Beat and Chance? I get they were drug-dealing partners, but Rath was very touchy feely with the both of them. I did a double take when it looked like Rath was pleading for his life to Chance.

I don't know anything about prison dynamics so can you help me out-

When someone becomes the head of a prison gang do they have to kill the leader or does the leader have the opportunity to step down if he is voted out of power?

Was Sonny giving Liam the opportunity to step down before he attempted to kill him or was he going to have to kill Liam anyway?

What was Sonny talking about "Liam doesn't know what he goes through out there taking out his ass is covering Liam's ass"? I thought the AB controlled the prison?

Also does Liam saying he was going to put Rath's name in a hat if messed with Chance mean that Rath would have a bounty on his head and be killed?

How did Liam's deal with the Bloods protect Chance?

Not all gangs are the same, but typically and according to records and incidents :

If he's voted out of power only way to leave is dead. Gangs don't want someone to know their code having a chance to leak it to enemies, or even worst authority.

Usually, the option to step down is given as a test of loyalty, like I've said, there's no walking away.

I'm not sure about this one, but I think he meant defending him from his own people. Most of them wanted him out for not carrying out the hit on his son for protecting a black person. They were white supremesists.

Yeah, pretty much.

I wasn't sure about this one neither, the movie didn't really explain in detail. It only showed Liam confroting his old gang. It kinda looked like he said he was out and there was nothing they could do about it. As for the Bloods they had someone so high up in rank pledge allegence to them which is a sign of respect, thus giving them more control over the prison even the streets.
