IMO This is another BvS/Civil War situation, where Marvel Studios Clearly copies WB/DC and simply Beats them

If you do a little research you Will find Marvel Studios/Kevin Feige Clearly Stole/Copied WB/DCs "VS Concept" after Batman V Superman was announced

what I mean is, The Directors(The Russos) have confirmed The Civil War Storyline was a direct result of WB announcing BvS and Marvel Studios/Feige intentionally decided The "Untitled Captain American 3"(at that time) needed to be bigger to compete against BvS(which Hilariously Tried to steal and force Marvel Studios and Cap 3 out of their PRIME summer release date)

bottom line....WB/DC decided to go with a "Vs Concept" movie that was sure to be HUGE and Marvel Studios just stole the IDEA and completely outdid and beat them at their Own GAME and made the Better "Vs Movie"....

In the end, It was IMO the absolute best example in Hollywood history of 1 Studio and 1 Movie completely BEATING another Studio and Movie.....Same Concept, Same Genre, Nearly The same release date in the same year, Competing Studios making Movies about Rival Comic book companies and characters, annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd the end result is 1 Studio(Disney/MS) Literally makes one of the greatest CBMs ever made, that receives universally Praise and excellent reviews and Has a 1 BILLION + box office run .....The other Studio(WB/DC) Literally makes one of the worst CBMs of all time, that receives universal hatred, is brutally mocked, gets awful reviews and completely under performs at the box office......

The reason I bring this up is........

I think its about to happen again .....actually I think Its already happened with

Spider-Man 3 and The Flash....

I think Marvel Studios/Kevin Feige read about the reports of The Flash introducing The Multiverse with reports that Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck and Christian Bale may return in the Flash and simply realized "shit, thats awesome and a Great Idea, but I can do it better"

and Now we Got Spider-Man 3 with Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Toby and All Their Villains

Although I must admit....I do not Believe This time it will end nearly as AWFUL for WB/DC and The Flash since thankfully The Movie,Universe, Character and DC KILLER Snyder is Gone and is not directing The Flash....

Its entirely Possible this time BOTH Movies might turn out very good, although I see no real chance in The Flash Competing with Spider-Man 3 in Box office....IMO If Box office returns to somewhat close to its normal landscape after we get a vaccine....This upcoming Spider-Man 3 film as 1.5 Billion + written all over it....

Yes I thought this too.. Marvel saw what was happening with the tv COIE and the The Flash movie and went 'fuck! that sounds awesome.. fuck it lets do it too like we did with Civil War' and fast tracked Dr Strange 2 from what it was originally going to be (a horror movie with Scott Derrikson) to a multiverse movie with Raimi and the same with Spiderman '3' (and the Wanda/Vision TV thing)

Also didn't MCU sort of copy the Justice League concept with the Infinity Saga (2 movies, world ending apocalypse plot) and obviously completely obliterated JL. theres even the time travel stuff that was in the original concept that got jettisoned that we'll no doubt finally see in Synders JL

Of course you got to remember that to begin with Marvel was a rip off of DC so makes sense they continue that now lol (but then DC ripped off the idea of doing a shared cinematic universe after Avengers made 1.5b lol)

i thought the most likely inspiration for introducing the multiverse into spiderman 3 came from the massive critical success of the spider-verse film. people couldn't contain their praise for it - i know, i was one of them. i've watched it 10 times, and i still can't stop ululating over its greatness.

that said, i actually had no idea the flash film was playing with the same ideas, so perhaps you're right.

DC has nothing to do with this. This is Feige and Marvel seeing dollar signs after watching Lord & Miller struck oil with Into The Spider-Verse.

I think you need to check the timeline

Spider-verse came out almost 3 years ago....

Coincidentally, Spider-Man 3 suddenly became A "Multiverse" film right after news got out that The Flash was introducing the multiverse and reports that Keaton,Bale and Affleck were coming back....

PS....I'm in no way saying this as a negative toward Marvel Studios....Instead like I did in 2016 with BvS and CW, I see this as the ultimate Insult and "Beating" of WB/DC

Marvel Studios/Feige is clearly just beating WB/DC at their own game

Feige is Literally copying An idea from WB/DC and Literally doing it BETTER!

Yeah he's even using the same writer from Wonder Woman: 1984 for this movie and Shang-Chi.

There is also the fact that both Sony and Marvel desperately needs money after the mess of the corona-show,and also because its a shared movie so they need to earn a lot to have it as a success,and what sells better than a Spiderverse movie?
