I seen this done a lot better when it was called 'The Specials'

and "The Tick" cartoon and live action.

watch them and then watch this and you'll see how this sux big time...

I think the Specials was amazing, but disagree with the Tick Live action. I despised it.

I think this isn't a brilliant TV series by any stretch of the imagination, but at least it's an attempt to be different.

This show is a fine example of why American television is becoming more and more popular in the UK. For some reason we really cannot make truly entertaining programmes any more. A couple times a year the Beeb put on a mini series or period drama that is worth a watch(a la state of play/the state within/life on mars) but ITV and channel 4 have sunk to new depths in recent years when it comes to original programming. The last thing that really made me laugh from them was Garth Merenghi's Darkplace.

It also saddens me to see James Lance in this. Where has all that promise he showed in the book club and late night shopping gone?

reply

This is one of the best shows to come out of the UK in years.A sitcom that is interesting funny, outrageous yet believable.

Personally I think this is the best thing James Lance has done...

But it is really, really awful. Foul. Unfunny. Not amusing.

If you think this is one of the best shows to come out of the UK in years then your judgement is not very good.

this humour reminded me a lot of The Justice League series in the late 80's early 90's. Same "real-life" humour concept. Would have loved to see some actual fighting or action in the the show...make me like the characters more. they have to have SOME redeeming qualities. I think that is why Timebomb is my fave. He has some superhero moments (the limo scene with the prince)

To Grimlock:

The irony of your statement is that most of the show my friends and I watch are British. Including Doctor Who, Torchwood, The IT Crowd, and this.

While not the best show in the world, I think it's incredibly funny.

I can't wait to see season two. Find out if Alex is in LA, or if it takes place after he comes back.

Also, the alcohol labels are great.

Same with me, I import alot of shows from UK and would also like to have a second season with Alex returning from LA after a year.

Here come the drums.

reply

Same here. I find a few British shows hilarious, like The Office, Extras, IT Crowd, Gavin & Stacy, No Heroics, Pulling, Spaced, among others. And I love Merlin.

I want a series 2 immediately.

The problem is that comedy is very subjective. Some people find it funny, some don't. Doesn't make one side right and the other wrong. Just different tastes.
