DB can't dance

Drew clearly cannot dance. Made herself look like an idiot. Always liked her but sort of disliked her for that bit

reply

Why would that make you dislike her? Not everyone is a fantastic dancer. That is no logical reason to dislike a person over.
It's not as if she went around claiming she was the best dancer in the world.

reply

She can't dance in a film? That's why you dnt like her, some people dear God

reply

Indeed. Perhaps Drew Barrymore can't dance. But it would have been irrelevant for the movie because I think she was supposed to play the part of someone who couldn't dance...perfectly perhaps. To me, anyways I thought they intended to portray her as somewhat awkward since they had her admit she grew up part Urkel and part Creech. So the worst that could be said if she can't dance is they cast someone who couldn't dance to play the part of someone...who couldn't dance.

But for me, I thought her dancing fit in perfectly with the show in which she and others danced.

reply

I thought her dancing was cute.

reply

cute? it was the dancing of a person who cannot dance, but was forced to. then again, why should i care? kevin bacon was the lead in footloose and he cant dance

reply

You do get the point wasn't about her dancing, but rather that she was finally letting loose, right? If it were a movie about some uptight, CEO-type dad who was suddenly widowed and had a moment of fingerpainting with his 6yrold child, would you really come to IMDB to complain that his painting is awful and that Picasso is rolling over in his grave, or would you realize that it was an emotional turning point in the characters' relationships? That's what this was. So yes, her dancing was cute and fun and not meant to land her a dancing trophy or a spot in some ballet company.

reply

Oh, nicely put wolfette.

I thought Drews dancing fitted perfectly for what her character was meant to be, and that was a single mum having a good laugh with her kids.

reply

Thank you so much!

You actually got the point I was trying to make, and expanded on it nicely.

Maybe OP and others will now get what the writers meant, and executed quite well.

reply

Ooookay, because she was playing a professional ballerina in this movie?

I'm gonna refuse you an offer you can't make

reply

You do have to wonder Dan at the mindset of someone complaining about an actress playing the part of a mum who couldn't dance not being up to Bolshoi standard....

reply

For sure, not only do these kind of people expect that every woman in a movie is supposed to be perfect looking or they will talk bad about her looks but they need to be able to dance perfectly, do their own stunts now and be able to juggle now lol

We crash into each other, just so we can feel something.

reply

Whoa there Dan, be fair.

Have yet to see anyone complain that Drew cannot juggle.
