Able to get to Australia? and How?

Being an Australia fan with a f-king annoying ratings board, banning games I anticipating highly due to avid fandom (Reservoir Dogs for example) - can I get Manhunt 2 from somewhere for a good price?
Will Rockstar ship to Australia? if not, where else will? Because Amazon wont :(

I wish I could help you, as a fellow Aussie who has been faced with this problem many times, but as far as I know, there's no way for us to buy a copy of Manhunt 2, either PAL or NTSC import (for those with mod chips).

Sadly, Australia would prefer to encourage piracy than let us pay money for games we would otherwise be perfectly willing to pay for. Frankly, I'm fed up with it... I was in the same situation as you with Reservoir Dogs, along with MANY other games that are either banned or simply never released into PAL territories... Suikoden 3, Parasite Eve, Xenogears, Raw Danger, etc.

I used to argue with folks about 'stealing' games, the whole bit about harming the industry and all that, but have finally come to the conclusion that it is a combination of the industry itself (not releasing stuff in certain countries), censorship and region restrictions (as you said, not being able to even order a US game from Amazon!) that does the damage.

When it is nigh-on impossible, let alone ten times more difficult, to legitimately BUY a game than it is to steal it, why is anyone surprised that it happens?

I personally spend a lot on games and DVDs, and would be happy to pay for many titles that simply are NOT available - either through censorship, region restriction or simply having no Australian/PAL release - if given the opportunity.

For example, I even checked out the totally legal Direct2Drive pay-to-download site, interested in Rockstar's $60 bundle of games... until I saw it was ONLY for US residents. Again, is it any surprise people torrent and download these things?

I really wish the industry would wake up and realise it was only harming itself by denying willing customers the chance to give them money! :(

say it isnt so Banjo.
THis is one of the many reasons I bought a wii. Okay, so mario galaxy and all the other exclusives sealed the deal, but to have manhunt 2 on wii uncut? priceless.

Too good to be true for an aussie gamer, the hypocrisy.

I saw in the ratings for Manhunt 2, that the NEtherlands has the uncut version.

My question , basically if any1 can help, DOes customs/classifaction b oard
look the other way when a game is not in the news anymore?

It is afterall, just a game.
Has any1 seen the ridiculous realistic violence in Rambo 4? as funny as that
was, it was still graphically brutal to a lameman. The same lameman who banned Manhunt 2 lets Rambo into the country, but wait a minute, the film board has an
R rating for this dilemma. NOt so for video games.
Im 28, so I wonder if Im old enough for an R rating in video games.

What is the point?
