Actually, the US has been remaking britcoms for quite a while. All in the Family and Sanford and Son, two of the most successful sitcoms in the seventies were based on British comedies.
What's important is whether both Hamilton/Jenkin & the network really get behind the project and are able to take what is best from the show and remake it in an American image, then find some talented actors and good writers. If they just try to make a cheap carbon-copy of the show it'll inevitably fail.
BTW, the Guardian implied that Modern Family was influenced by Outnumbered, although I don't see it.
I agree, but I just don't particuarly like American humour.
shareIt's not going to make any difference what we say - the TV companies are just in it to make money. If it is awful, it'll be cancelled after one series, or not even broadcast after the pilot (as in the case of Red Dwarf) If you think it's gonna be rubbish, just don't watch it.
