Why was the girl wearing earrings?

From the way her parents carry on it just doesn't ring true that they would allow their nine year old daughter to have her ears pierced.

What?!? There's nothing unusual about Pete and Sue as parents; why would they say no? I had my ears pierced when I was 8 and it wasn't as common a practice then as it is now.

Why shouldn't she have her ears pierced?!

De gustibus non est disputandum.

Because certain things require a level of responsibility or adultness before they should be considered, personally in this case I don't see the problem with earrings on a 9-yo. If she wanted them then it's her decision and it's not a major one, like a tongue piercing, earrings are commonplace.

Now, if she was 2 years old on the otherhand and had her ears pierced by her parents because "poking holes in my kids flesh makes me look trendy and *beep* and I can do what I want cos they belong to me" then I'd opt for sterilising the parents.

Opinions are just onions with pi in them.

My parents pierced my ears at two weeks old, sterilizing is a bit much, I think.

In America, it is common for parents to have their baby girls' ears pierced in the first two months (just as they have their baby boys circumcised).

Neither is common in Britain, or in most European countries.

My 12-year-old daughter wants her ears pierced - her friend had hers done, and said it was fairly painless. I'm not too happy with the idea myyself, but then I'm prejudiced: I think piercing anything is pretty dumb, and I think that earrings are just plain daft and look downright silly. But then I also think that tattoos are stupid too, and I wear socks in my sandals, so who am I to say?

reply

NO IT IS NOT! It is NOT common to have your baby's ears pierced! Where the hell did you get that fake fact?

Chase: Wow. Yeah, I get it. House is adorable. I just want to hold him and never let go.
