Michael Sneed and Dominic Capone

Why did Michael Sneed from the Sun Times make such a big deal that Dominic Capone was in this movie?

After all the hype, I had to re-watch it and try to find him....finally did and wow- he raised his hand with everyone else and "salute." Can't believe he didn't get the Oscar for that scene.
Gotta give the little guy credit though, he knows how to hype himself up....changing his name to Capone was slick too.
