Why such a offensive depiction of gays?

You know, for a movie that makes a point to be open and non-judgemental of people (including the portrayal of the mother and her boss working at the "adult store", the depiction of the gay couple was offenisively stereotypical. They were prancing, prissy. self-absorbed, and just a one-dimensional reactionary portrayal that was out of line with the rest of the film. And then the main character's reaction when he was kissed spitting up as if he was poisoned was incredbly dissapointing. Especially when the actor, Joseph Cross, himself previously played gay in TWO roles (Milk and Running With Scissors). Not only did Joseph did heavy man on man kissing scenes in both, but explicitly loses his boy virginity "Scissors". I guess he's just an actor who'll do anything for the dollar.

*Every* character in this film was one dimensional, not just the two gay guys. Most of the other characters (presumably straight) were portrayed as stupid, bigoted or both. Those two characters were not there to provide a nuanced character analysis of rich gay men. No, they were there so that Scarlet could see Henry save the dog. Just two one-note plot points in a film full of one-note characters.

Based on what I've seen in real life, it seems to me to be a fairly accurate description of homosexual behavior.
