Why is DMX even in this movie?

Such an odd role and movie. I think the movie past the halfpoint or maybe even 2/3rds through when DMX's character just shows up with practically zero backstory or reason to be in this film. Then he proceeds to have I believe two or three scenes after that where he shoots some mexicans and spouts some random bible quotes. Whatever were they thinking even adding him to the movie? He brought nothing to the film and the movie wouldn't have changed one bit if they left out the character alltogether.
